Abstract
The objective of this note is to analyze the history and performance of the operations of the insurance fund FCVS that was run by the Brazilian government between 1967 and 1993, and to arrive at conclusions about the need for and feasibility of inflation risk insurance for mortgage contracts in Brazil.
